The takers of news in general are viewers or its readers. So who decides what is publishable on the front page of a newspaper. The front page news of a particular newspaper does wonders in sculpting its image in general. The strategy of a newspaper in deciding its front page news decides its target audience in terms of readers and advertisers.

So how does a newspaper house filter out a load of news to filter out front page. Most of the news paper houses I am aware of follow a set of given criteria to squeeze in as much as information on the front page. The front page not only mirrors the news papers strategy in defining its business but also it is an index of contents of what the newspaper contains. Most of the papers make it as attractive as possible.
Front page news in a business paper would show us how a market fluctuated with a decent account of any important developments in business houses, also they do not entirely ignore the weather or the temperatures or even some important gestures which are good for a light read. Similarly, an entertainment daily would have an insight into the hot attractive popular lots emotional doings.
So where some newspapers would cover how Lehmann Bros bankrupted others would concentrate on how the senate fought over a women reservation law while some would give you a scoop in an actress’s divorced life the other would concentrate on the strategy of the government in international trade.
So as a whole newspapers have to concentrate most of their efforts in filtering out front page data , this front page data in turn decides its revenue , its advertisers its target audience in general its business and in turn how much sleep is the editor going to get.
